Stack Live – Football in print
Independent magazine makers love a niche, and nowhere is that more true than in the titles covering football, that notoriously tribal sport. These days fans can pick from a long list of print contenders, including Mundial (football culture), Season (women and football), Glory (football and travel), The Blizzard (football for the thinker), Box to Box (football banter), Howler (football as seen from the US), Eight by Eight (more from the US), Shukyu (football as seen from Japan), Surface (football as seen from France) or Nutmeg (football as seen from Scotland).
With so much football about and the new season well underway here in England, we’re putting on Football in Print, a night devoted to some of our favourite magazines covering the beautiful game. We’ll be downstairs at The Book Club in London from 6.30pm on Tuesday 26th, and while we can’t fit all the titles above into our line up, I’m very pleased that we’ll be hearing from the following makers:
Louis Rossi (Glory)
Dan Sandison (Mundial)
Felicia Pennant (Season)
George Quraishi (Howler, via video presentation)
If you’re a mag-loving football fan this will be the perfect opportunity to see the process of turning passion into print – and it might also introduce you to some fresh reading material. As ever, tickets cost just £6 and there will be plenty of time afterwards for chatting over a pint. See you there!
