Lots of people turn to print these days for calm, uninterrupted reading, and this offline headspace is even more valuable when it comes to discussions about our mental health. Published out of Manchester, Nous is a beautifully made magazine dedicated to mind culture and empathic thinking.

Their writing aims to remove the prejudice around mental illness, and it’s an honest, open exploration of how our environments can affect us. It’s risograph printed (our mockups of the PDFs really don’t do it justice) so this is one you need to hold in your hands to fully appreciate.

In this issue:

  • The therapeutic and socio-reflective aspects of getting lost in the world of Grand Theft Auto, by Noel Heath
  • A bicycle thief makes two friends reconsider their definition of fun and leisure in Angus Stewart’s short story
  • Rindon Johnson invites us to join them at a queer play party, reminding us of how it feels to be the last kid picked for the team
  • Trust and drugs: experimenting with their body becomes a form of self-expression for Miriam Avery
  • Take a stroll around forgotten Soviet playgrounds and football fields with photographer Jameson Kergozou
  • And Ami Nash is living the California Cult Dream playing with alternative forms of the everyday
